TMS Software, LLC, developed this app for the Claris Community. It is a FileMaker solution that utilizies the Currency Layer API to calculate monetary currency rates.

This is a FileMaker app that makes RESTful calls to the Currency Layer API. Making us of the API requires you to register online and obtain an API key to make the cURL calls to populate the data.

This API provides currency conversions for about 168 different currencies and it can provide you the rates for today or for a date in the past. These are standard published currency rates, but if you deal with currency exchange, there are many other things involved including exchange fees and getting breaks for larger conversion, etc. So there is no such thing is an exact exchange rate. But these standard rates are commonly used in business financial transactions such as by credit cards or moving money through the international SWIFT banking system.

This is an extension meaning it is not designed to be a final solution. This is for you to use to copy, edit and incorporate the script into your own solution.
