TMS Software, LLC, developed this extension for the Claris Community. It is a FileMaker solution that provides calculations for Text Sting Number formatting and Numbers to Words Calculation's Template.
The template is for FileMaker Checking and Number's Text String Calculations. This template helps convert numbers in text string calculations with formatted numbers in the way you can format fields with the Inspector in Layouts.
Using this tool, you can convert 12345.6 to a text string such as "Please pay $12,345.60 by tomorrow" with the number formatted as you specify for currency, thousands separator and decimal separator, and number of decimals.
Additionally, you can convert a number to text such as 12345.60 to "*** Twelve Thousand Three Hundred and Forty-Five Dollars and Sixty Cents ***", which is commonly used with checks.
This tool requires FileMaker Pro version 18 or higher. It provides examples as a field calculation, scripting calculation, and custom function.
The template is licensed at no cost and can be found at tms.us/FM We only request you give us credit in your calculations, script and/or documentation.
This is an extension meaning it is not designed to be a final solution. This is for you to use to copy, edit and incorporate the script into your own solution.
